The health benefits of exposing skin to sunlight may far outweigh the risk of developing skin cancer, according to scientists.

Edinburgh University research suggests sunlight helps reduce blood pressure, cutting heart attack and stroke risks and even prolonging life.

UV rays were found to release a compound that lowers blood pressure.

Researchers said more studies would be carried out to determine if it is time to reconsider advice on skin exposure.

I tracked my profit in a little notebook. I learned that it was better to buy in bulk (a 17-stick pack but I could only afford one at a time). I kept inventory records. I tracked the types of flavors that sold best (Juicy Fruit was tops), and who my best customers were- I was pretty shy but sometimes I just had to stand there and show the goods. I never got in trouble for it, and I don’t know if any kids did, but they came back anyway. I sometimes gave away sticks to kids that didn’t have 5c and told them not to tell the kids I charged.

I wonder if I’m suited to my profession, an accountant. hmm.

my grandfathers were each particularly good at it.
each of my parents and each of their 3 siblings played as well, and nearly every grandchild, since we all had an upright in the house.

there are 13 great-grandchildren (if I counted right!), and some are too young, but I don’t think any of them play, which makes me a little sad.

this just occurred to me today as I played the piano my grandfather left me several years ago.

Frederick half marathon- I told Jeremy that I ran past a church with a priest (in a white robe) standing outside, and he was giving blessings (making the sign of the cross or something). He also seemed to be doing something with water, which I thought “wait, could that be holy water? I’m not Catholic, but sure I’ll take a blessing…”

apparently there’s only 1 Catholic church in Frederick, and the grey building I described wasn’t it. J was determined to figure out what church I was talking about, so we drove the course. At each turn he said, “so you went this way…” and EVERY TIME I had no idea where I was or that I had been there before…”THIS?? no…THIS?”

…as it turns out, it was NOT a Catholic church (Methodist), NOT a priest (Methodist, so he was definitely NOT giving a blessing in the way I thought), and definitely was NOT throwing holy water…instead he just a minister dressed in a robe because it was Sunday morning, standing there with a refreshing cup of water for himself. not holy water. oops.

so Chloe and D can see (it’s on fb)…apparently I make this weird face after 24 hours of:
..hiking 2-3 miles with Chloe, D, and S
..heading to Frederick to run a 5k
..attending a prom as a lookyloo (it was hilarious)
..running the Frederick half marathon on Sunday am.
..oh, and drinking 3 beers…

I’m holding 2 medals- bottom one for the half, top one is for also running the 5k, to be an official Nut Job.
